Katsina State Government Provides Its Children With Policy-Making Resources.

A three-day capacity-building program on policy-making and governance for teenagers has been launched by the Katsina State government in partnership with the Safe the Children Initiative (SCI).

Jamila Abdu Mani, Special Adviser to Governor Umaru Radda, Department of Girl Child Education and Child Building, spoke at the flag-off in Katsina. She explained that the training was a component of the children's parliament capacity-building project, which aims to introduce them to the fundamentals of policymaking.

“Through this partnership, we aim to empower our children, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become leaders and advocates for change within their communities and beyond.

“The children’s parliament capacity development program is more than just an educational initiative; it is a platform for our children to voice their opinions, to learn about their rights, and to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives and their future.

“It signifies our collective commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment where every child can thrive,” she said.

calling on all state citizens to uphold the ideals of empowerment, equality, and respect by cooperating to guarantee that every kid has the chance to realize their full potential and is unrestricted by their gender or social standing.

The children will be involved in activities that will strengthen their capacity for policy-making processes, as previously mentioned by SCI project Manager Altine Lewi. At the conclusion of the project, the children hope to develop a strategic work plan.
