Police Open Fire on Demonstrators and Journalists at End-Hunger Protest in Abuja
During the end-hunger demonstration on Saturday, Nigerian police officers opened fire on demonstrators and media personnel at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
On the third day of the 10-day demonstration against bad governance in Nigeria, demonstrators—mostly young people—had assembled in front of the stadium.
When the heavily armed men arrived at the location at 11:45 a.m., they gave them the order to leave. The demonstrators, including journalists present at the event, were fired at by the police after they disobeyed the order.
