Police Use Tear Gas on Protesters at Berger Bridge in Abuja

On Friday morning, Nigerian Police officers opened fire with tear gas canisters on a gathering of demonstrators at the Berger Bridge in Abuja. Some surprised motorists and bystanders could be heard accusing the police of being haughty.
Earlier, a proposal to limit protestors to the MKO Abiola National Stadium was approved by an Abuja High Court. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), encouraged protestors to heed the court decision on Thursday night, but protest organizers argued they had not received a copy of the decree.
Protests around the country are still going on in all 36 states as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
