Bauchi Police Rescue Two 13-Year-Old Girls Abducted From Taraba State Three Months Ago

The Bauchi State Police Command has rescued Aisha and Zainab, both 13 years old, who were allegedly abducted from their community in Fangari Hamlet, Bali Local Government Area, Taraba State, in March. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. The girls were found in Kirfi Local Government Area in Bauchi State.

SP Nafiu Habib, the Command's Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development in a statement released on Wednesday.

On March 10, 2026, the father of one of the girls walked into a police station and reported that his daughter and her friend had vanished from their homes. Their families had searched. They had found nothing. He was asking for help.

That report is what started the investigation that eventually led to Kirfi LGA in Bauchi State, several hundred kilometres from where the girls went missing.

According to preliminary investigations, the two suspects, Auwal Muhammad and Abdulgaffar Musa, both 20 years old and from Unguwar Zangoma in Bara Town, allegedly planned and executed the transportation of the two minors from Taraba State to Bauchi State without the knowledge or consent of their families.

Both suspects are now in custody. The Taraba girls rescued by Bauchi Police are under police protection pending reunion with their families. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, addressed the case directly and with language that leaves little room for ambiguity.

"The Command will not tolerate any act of child abduction or exploitation. Parents and guardians should monitor their children closely and report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station," he said.

He also reaffirmed that the command would continue working to protect vulnerable people and ensure accountability for crimes involving children.
