CNCN Slams Government Inaction On Kaduna Killings

The Kaduna State chapter of the Congress of Northern Christians of Nigeria has condemned the ongoing wave of killings by gunmen across the country, accusing authorities of failing to take meaningful action to stop it.

The CNCN's remarks come in the wake of a deadly overnight attack on Naridon village in Kauru Local Government Area, one of several recent assaults that have left communities across Southern Kaduna reeling.

In a statement issued by its state chairman, Elder Bulus Dogarawa, the group did not mince words about the toll this violence has taken.

"In some instances, many people have had their houses and properties completely destroyed by gunmen, besides the displacement of millions of Nigerians for decades in the country without concrete measures taken by the government to ensure such ugly, devilish, and inhuman behaviour comes to an end," the statement read.

The CNCN was especially pointed about the nature of these assaults, many of which target people while they sleep.

The group described it as simply unacceptable that:

• Attackers can strike defenseless communities at night with no apparent consequence
• Perpetrators continue to move freely while victims' families are left to rebuild alone
• Survivors receive little to no meaningful support to start over

"How can it be that those who carry out such illicit acts move freely in society while those whose loved ones are killed continue to suffer with little or no meaningful assistance rendered to them to start a new life?" the statement asked.

Dogarawa pushed the federal government to move beyond statements of concern and take proactive steps to understand what is actually driving the violence.

"The time has come for Nigerians to come up with workable solutions that will deliver us from these years of madness, killings, kidnapping for no reason, and destruction that many Nigerians have suffered," he said.

He was firm that accountability has to follow, insisting that anyone found responsible for the violence should face full legal consequences.

"Whoever is found to have a hand in what the citizens are going through should not be spared but should be made to face the full wrath of the law of the land," Dogarawa said.

Beyond the loss of life, the CNCN pointed to the ripple effects these attacks have had on daily life, disrupting trade, damaging livelihoods, and leaving many households in hardship. The group renewed its call for government and security agencies to intensify efforts to bring the country's security crisis under control.
