Pastor Killed, Two Hurt In Fubok Village Attack

A clergyman known as Pastor Philibus was killed and two members of his congregation were seriously injured in the Fubok village Plateau attack, which struck Daffo area of Bokkos Local Government Area on Thursday night.

Conflict journalist Masara Kim Usman confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Friday, describing how suspected gunmen laid siege to the community overnight and unleashed violence on residents.

"Terrorists reportedly invaded Fubok late evening hours after killing three residents, leaving a Pastor dead and two of his members critically injured," he wrote.

According to Usman, the same attackers had killed three people in a nearby village shortly before turning on Fubok.

The Fubok attack was not an isolated event that night. Usman also reported ongoing shootings in areas south of Jos.

"At least two killed in ongoing shootings south of Jos, Plateau State. Reports say two were killed and one injured in Daffo, Bokkos LGA while shooting persists in Dorowa, Barkin Ladi LGA," he wrote.

Separately, three miners were also killed the same day along GSS Daffo Road while returning from a mining site, according to other local reports, underscoring how widespread the violence in Bokkos LGA has become in recent weeks.

What makes this incident especially difficult for the community is that a warning had already gone out. Barr. Solomon Mwantiri, President of the Berom Youth-Moulders Association, had flagged the possibility of an impending attack and urged both security agencies and residents to take precautions.

His alert, posted on Facebook, read in part:

"There are reports of an impending attack around Dorowa Babuje. For your safety, travelers coming from Jos to Mangu, and those intending to use the Dorowa Babuje axis, are strongly advised to suspend their journey and remain in a safe location until the area is declared safe by security agencies."

He also made a direct appeal to authorities.

"We also call on the relevant security agencies to respond immediately to protect innocent lives and restore normalcy. Please remain calm, avoid sharing unverified information, and prioritize your safety," Mwantiri wrote.
