Dangote Group Awaits NNPCL Decision on Petrol Availability in Nigerian Market
Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) will determine the availability of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the Nigerian market within 48 hours.
Dangote shared these insights during an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, coinciding with the formal announcement of the first petrol delivery from his $20 billion refinery, which has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, located in Lagos.
He emphasized that discussions with NNPCL are nearing completion to facilitate the distribution of petrol to the Nigerian market. "The PMS can be on filling stations in the next 48 hours, depending on NNPCL," Dangote stated.
Regarding the pricing of petrol, Dangote noted that the final decision will be made by the Federal Executive Council, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “On PMS price, it is an arrangement that is designed and approved by the Federal Executive Council. As soon as it is finalized, which could be today or tomorrow following the FEC meeting, we are ready to roll out in the market,” he explained.
Dangote’s statements reflect ongoing negotiations and approvals that are critical to the distribution of PMS in Nigeria, highlighting the coordinated efforts between his refinery and the federal government.
