18 Suspects Arrestest by Osun Police Over Assault Case
The Osun State Police Command has confirmed a significant breakthrough, and the numbers keep rising.
The Osun police arrest suspects update shows that fourteen additional individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the assault on police personnel.
This brings the total number of suspects to eighteen.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the arrests were made through sustained intelligence-led operations ordered by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan.
The Osun police arrest suspects operation reportedly tracked down individuals who had initially gone into hiding after the attack.
“The suspects had initially gone into hiding after the attack but were later apprehended through targeted intelligence gathering,” the statement noted.
During the operation, security operatives recovered several items, including:
- A single-barrel rifle
- One live cartridge
- A cutlass
These findings further underline the seriousness of the incident.
Interestingly, some of those arrested are community leaders, which adds another layer of concern to the situation.
Those identified include:
- Olaitan Bashiru, Baale of Apeponroro
- Tajudeen Aralamo, Baale of Oke Ayepe
- Mustau Salam, Oluode of Ilobu
Other suspects named by the police include Jimoh Nurudeen, Adeboye Ashifa, Ajibola Segun, Mustapha Muwaliu, Jimoh Quyum, Ajani Faruq, Musibau Jimoh, Olaniyan Quadri, Fatai Oyawoyin, Basiru Olaogun, Mutairu Olawoyin, Ige Jimoh, Olawoyin Samad, and Tajudeen Taorid.
The Osun police arrest suspects case continues to evolve, with authorities confirming that more individuals connected to the incident are still being tracked.
The Command emphasized its commitment to justice while also maintaining respect for human rights.
“The Command assures that all those involved in the criminal act will face the full weight of the law to serve as a deterrent to others,” the statement said.
Residents have also been urged to support ongoing investigations by providing useful information that could aid further arrests.
This is not the first update on the case. Earlier reports confirmed that four suspects had already been detained before the latest wave of arrests.
According to the police, the officers were attacked while responding to intelligence about a possible breakdown of peace between the Erin-Osun and Ilobu communities.
At its core, this situation is a reminder of how quickly local tensions can escalate and how critical early intervention can be.
But it also raises a quiet question.
What happens when those expected to maintain order become part of the crisis?
For now, the Osun police arrest suspects operation continues, with authorities determined to bring every individual involved to justice.
