Troops Arrest Two Suspected Informants in Borno

Security operations in Borno State have led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of supporting armed groups.

The development highlights ongoing efforts by the military to disrupt not just direct attacks, but also the flow of information that may aid insurgent activities. Here is what has been reported so far about the Borno suspected informants arrest.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have reportedly detained two individuals in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to security reports, the Borno suspected informants arrest took place in the early hours of March 23 during a routine operation by soldiers of the 25 Brigade.

The suspects were identified as:

• Akona Alhaji, 30
• Musa Alhaji Isah, 28

They were reportedly intercepted around 5:30 a.m. following what was described as suspicious movement in the area.

The arrest occurred in a location referred to as “Serial 7,” an outer area leading toward the Timbuktu Triangle.

This region is widely known among security circles as a difficult terrain that has been linked to insurgent activity.

The Borno suspected informants arrest in such a location has raised concerns about possible intelligence gathering routes used by armed groups.

Security sources reported that several items were recovered from the suspects at the time of arrest, including:

• Two bicycles
• One mobile phone
• Three daggers
• A torchlight
• A wristwatch
• Charms
• ₦6,900 in cash

Authorities believe these items may be relevant to ongoing investigations tied to the Borno suspected informants arrest.

Initial findings suggest the suspects may have been involved in gathering information for insurgent groups operating in the area.

However, these claims remain under investigation.

Officials have not yet made any formal legal determination regarding the suspects’ roles.

The suspects are currently in military custody while further inquiries continue.

Security forces say intelligence gathering remains a key part of efforts to reduce threats and prevent attacks.

The Borno suspected informants arrest is part of broader operations aimed at identifying networks that may support insurgent activities.
