The Nigerian Army has confirmed that the Maiduguri suicide bomb attacks occurred on the evening of March 16, 2026.
According to officials, the explosions happened at about 7:24 p.m. across three key locations in the city:
• Monday Market
• The entrance gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital
• Post Office Flyover
The incidents reportedly happened during Iftar, a time when many people gather to break their fast.
Authorities confirmed that the Maiduguri suicide bomb attacks resulted in:
• 23 fatalities
• 108 people injured
Emergency responders, including teams from the National Emergency Management Agency and medical personnel, quickly evacuated victims to nearby hospitals.
