Army Foils Attacks, Recovers Rifle in Katsina
Nigerian Army troops have carried out multiple operations in Katsina State, disrupting suspected terrorist activities and recovering weapons.
The operations, which took place across different locations, are part of ongoing efforts to improve security and limit armed group movements in the region. Here is what has been reported so far about the Nigerian Army operation Katsina.
According to reports shared by security sources, troops of the 17 Brigade operating from the Forward Operating Base in Mabai encountered suspected terrorists during a patrol.
The Nigerian Army operation Katsina in this area took place around 7:45 a.m. on March 15 along the Kankara Mabai Road.
The encounter reportedly happened near the Ruwan Lafia crossing point.
Sources say troops engaged the suspects, who later withdrew from the scene. During a follow-up search, soldiers recovered a motorcycle believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing group.
In another phase of the Nigerian Army operation Katsina, troops responded to intelligence reports of suspected terrorist activity in Ruwan Sanyi Village in Malumfashi Local Government Area.
This operation reportedly occurred at about 11:10 p.m. on March 14.
Security sources say troops confronted the suspects upon arrival, leading to another exchange.
The individuals reportedly withdrew from the area, and signs at the scene suggested possible injuries among them.
During a search of the area, troops recovered:
• One AK-47 rifle
• Seventeen rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
The recovery is considered a significant outcome of the Nigerian Army operation Katsina, as it reduces the capacity for further attacks.
Security sources indicate that troops have maintained their presence in the affected areas.
The goal of the continued deployment is to:
• Prevent further incidents
• Limit the movement of armed groups
• Reassure local communities
The Nigerian Army operation Katsina is part of broader efforts to stabilize areas affected by recurring security challenges.
