Four-Storey School Building Collapses in Ogba Shortly After Evacuation

A four-storey building used as a school collapsed on Monday in the Ogba area of Lagos, just minutes after students and staff had been evacuated from the premises.

The incident occurred around midday at a structure located at 11 Adudatu Street in the Aguda area of Ogba, behind County Hospital.

Reports indicate that the building gave way less than three minutes after students and teachers had left the facility, narrowly avoiding what could have been a major tragedy.

No casualties had been confirmed as of the time this report was filed.

Residents in the area said the sudden collapse caused panic, although the earlier evacuation ensured that no one was trapped in the rubble.

The incident adds to a series of building collapse cases that have been recorded in Lagos in recent years, raising ongoing concerns about structural safety and building regulations.

Authorities had not yet determined the cause of the collapse at the time of reporting.
