Edo Police Nab Two for Illegal Gun Possession During Bush-Combing Operation
The early morning light had barely broken through the thick bushes of Egbisi when police operatives and local vigilantes fanned out, their boots crunching against damp leaves. It wasn’t a routine patrol, this was a full-scale bush-combing operation aimed at flushing out hidden criminal camps.
By 8 a.m. that Friday, October 31, 2025, the Ehor Division team, led by CSP Akwaha Steven, had stumbled upon something more telling than footprints, three single-barrel shotguns tucked away in the undergrowth. Two men, 30-year-old Julius Omagbogwu and 45-year-old Omika Musa, were arrested at the scene for unlawful possession of firearms.
According to a statement released by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to rid Edo State of illegal weapons and criminal networks operating under the radar.
“Preliminary investigations are already underway to trace the source of the firearms and identify any connections to organized criminal groups,” Ikoedem said.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, commended both the Ehor Division and the vigilante units for their coordinated intelligence work, calling the arrests “a strong message to criminal elements still hiding in the shadows.”
He also urged residents to stay alert and continue cooperating with law enforcement through official communication channels, stressing that community partnership remains key to keeping Edo safe.
