School Kidnapping in Kebbi State: Vice Principal Killed, Students Abducted
According to local reports, bandits invaded the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Danko Wasagu, Kebbi State, killing the vice principal and kidnapping several students.
Residents say the attack happened around five in the morning on Monday, November 17. The school was reportedly breached without any resistance. A local resident, Aliyu Yakubu, confirmed the incident to the media, describing how the criminals entered the area and carried out their operation before most people were fully awake.
Yakubu told reporters that Vice Principal Hassan Yakubu Makuku was shot while trying to shield the students from being taken. His attempt to protect the girls cost him his life, leaving the community in mourning. Yakubu’s voice reportedly carried both fear and grief as he explained the situation, saying the entire town of Maga had been thrown into panic.
He said the loss of Makuku was devastating, not just to the school but to the entire community. Many residents are struggling to process the fact that a man who tried to defend his students died in the process. As of now, the number of kidnapped students remains unclear.
The state police command has not released an official statement on the incident. Families and residents are waiting for clarification, hoping for updates on the missing students and reassurance that security measures will be strengthened.
