Man Rescued After Kidnapping Near Yola
Police officers in Adamawa State have rescued Abdullahi Usman, a resident of Unguwan Abuja in Viniklang, Girei Local Government Area, after he was kidnapped and found tied up inside a forest.
According to a statement released by the Adamawa State Police Command, the rescue followed a distress call received on Thursday from one Adamu Shugaba, who reported hearing someone groaning inside an uncompleted building in the Jabbore area of Viniklang.
“Acting swiftly, the Command deployed the Divisional Police Officer, Viniklang, and a team of operatives to the scene. The victim was rescued unhurt and rushed to hospital for medical examination,” said SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer.
The statement added that the victim’s wrists and legs were tightly bound with fabric when he was discovered.
Police say the Anti-Kidnapping Unit has taken over the investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
“CP Dankombo Morris commended the officers for their quick response and professionalism and directed further investigation to ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” Nguroje added.
