Kaduna Government Debunks False Reports of Bomb Blast in Aakpa Community
The Kaduna State Government has dismissed circulating reports of a bomb explosion in the Aakpa area of Josawa Road, located in Kaduna North Local Government Area, describing them as exaggerated and misleading.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, James A. Kanyip, clarified that the incident, which occurred on April 22, 2025, was not a bomb blast as widely speculated.
“Contrary to rumors, the unfortunate event involved an accidental discharge from a locally made firearm (dane gun), not an explosive device,” Kanyip stated. “Sadly, a 12-year-old boy lost his life, and seven others sustained injuries from pellets of the blast.”
The commissioner explained that the panic and fear that followed led to the spread of misinformation. However, findings from the anti-bomb squad and other security agencies confirmed that the blast was not terror-related.
In response to the incident, a team comprising officials from the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and the Kaduna North Local Government Council conducted an on-site assessment to ensure an accurate understanding of the situation.
Kanyip urged residents to remain calm and continue with their normal routines, assuring them that the government is committed to long-term peace and security across the state.
“The State Government remains resolute in its efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and protect all citizens,” he concluded.
