Police Look Into Alleged Attack on Kogi Family Home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Kogi State Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged attack on the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The incident, which reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, came to light following a distress call from one of the senator's aides, Yakubu Ovanja. The report was confirmed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya Ovye, in a statement released on Friday.

According to the statement, around 1:00 a.m., three individuals armed with cutlasses stormed the senator’s family home, damaging windows as they attempted to force their way into the building.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Okehi Division quickly responded to the alert and conducted an on-site inspection. At the scene, he met Michael Akpoti, a relative of the senator, who recounted how the intruders had used cutlasses to shatter the front windows. Akpoti said he raised an alarm, which caused the suspects to flee before gaining full entry.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police has instructed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to begin a discreet and thorough investigation. The goal is to determine the motive behind the attack and identify those responsible.

The Kogi State Police assured the public that justice would be served once the perpetrators are apprehended.
