UNILORIN Student Breaks Guinness World Record for Longest Mathematics Lesson

Kazeem Sanusi, a 400-level Mathematics student at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), has set a new benchmark by breaking the Guinness World Record for the Longest Mathematics Lesson—clocking in at an impressive 31 hours, 42 minutes, and 54 seconds.

The previous record stood at 26 hours of uninterrupted instruction.

The record-breaking session, which was witnessed by officials from Guinness World Records, drew notable attention and support from the university community. Distinguished attendees included the Registrar, Mr. Mansur Alfanla; Dean of Physical Sciences, Prof. Abdullahi Alafara Baba; Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Alex Akanmu; Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Adegboyega Fawole; and Student Union President, Comrade Victor Agezeh, among others.

Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Wahab Egbewole commended Kazeem for his determination and excellence:

“We are immensely proud of the feat achieved by Kazeem, and we will continue to encourage others to find their passion and pursue it.”

He expressed optimism that the accomplishment would inspire more students to push boundaries, discover their potential, and continue to bring honor to the university.

Kazeem is currently awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records, but the university community is already celebrating his remarkable milestone.
