Donald Trump to Hold Indoor Inauguration Ceremony Due to Cold Weather

President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, is set to be sworn in on Monday inside the US Capitol, marking his return to office after the 2024 presidential election.

The decision to hold the inauguration indoors was attributed to an Arctic blast sweeping the nation. This will be the first time in 40 years that a U.S. presidential inauguration has been moved indoors due to extreme cold. The last instance was in 1985, when former Republican President Ronald Reagan delivered his second inaugural address indoors under similar weather conditions.

Trump addressed the change on his Truth Social account, stating:
“There is an Arctic blast sweeping the country. I don’t want to see people hurt or injured in any way. Therefore, I have ordered the Inauguration Address, in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda.”

In addition to the ceremony, the president-elect announced that the Capital One Arena will host a live broadcast of the event. The arena will also serve as the venue for his presidential procession, initially planned as a traditional parade along Pennsylvania Avenue featuring marching bands and other performances.

Trump’s inauguration follows his victory in the November 2024 presidential election, where he secured the majority of the electoral college votes, defeating Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
