Newly Launched Anambra Security Group Breaks Up Kidnapping Syndicate
A recently established security outfit in Anambra State, Agunechemba, has successfully dismantled a kidnapping syndicate operating in the Isiagu area of Awka South Local Government.
The operation occurred just a day after the security group was inaugurated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
On Saturday, Agunechemba agents raided two compounds in Isiagu and apprehended several members of the kidnapping syndicate. The swift action demonstrates the group's commitment to combating criminal activities in the state.
Following the operation, Mr. Ken Emeakhayi, the leader of the security outfit, explained that the state government supports the confiscation of properties used to harbor kidnappers, regardless of whether the owner is notified.
Emeakhayi stated: “Now, these two buildings you are seeing here have officially become the property of the Anambra State government. Of course, you know that a man who owns his property decides what to do with it. So, these two compounds you see here will be demolished.”
The confiscated buildings were demolished, a move captured in a video that has since gone viral on social media. The action aligns with Anambra State's tough stance on crime and the implementation of laws aimed at discouraging the use of private properties for illegal activities.
The establishment of Agunechemba and its immediate success in dismantling a criminal syndicate marks a significant step forward in Governor Soludo’s administration's efforts to enhance security in Anambra State. The demolition of properties used for criminal activities serves as both a deterrent and a message of zero tolerance for crime.
