The Anambra armed robbery arrest was disclosed in Awka by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who said the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu.
According to Ikenga, the arrests followed ongoing investigations into criminal conspiracy and armed robbery activities within the state.
Recovered items from the suspects included:
Two pump-action rifles
Five live cartridges
One ash-colored shuttle bus
Face masks
Vehicle license plates
Other items believed to be linked to their operations
The police spokesperson explained that the suspects allegedly posed as vigilance officers while carrying out their crimes. They reportedly operated using a shuttle bus to avoid suspicion and gain the trust of unsuspecting members of the public.
During interrogation, the suspects made statements admitting to their involvement in illegal activities and explaining how they carried out their operations. The Anambra armed robbery arrest has now opened new investigative leads for the police.
Ikenga stated that the suspects are currently cooperating with investigators and providing information that may help identify additional accomplices involved in the crimes.
