Gombe Police Arrest Suspect Over Government House Killing

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a temporary employee at the Gombe Government House.

The Gombe Government House murder was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi.

According to the police, two temporary workers at the Government House were initially linked to the incident.

The deceased, identified as Mallam Umar, popularly known as Baba Usama, was employed as a borehole operator at the Government House.

Preliminary findings revealed troubling circumstances surrounding his death.

Police said the victim was discovered unconscious and was immediately taken to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where a medical doctor later confirmed him dead.

His remains were subsequently deposited at the hospital mortuary for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, visited the scene and ordered a thorough investigation.

As part of the investigation, officers reviewed CCTV footage from within the Government House premises.

According to police findings, a 19-year-old male identified as Shuaibu Adamu M., also known as Yaya Mama, was seen on the footage allegedly assaulting the deceased shortly before his death.

The suspect, who reportedly worked as a casual watchman for a construction company handling projects within the Government House, was said to have fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Police later tracked him to Bagadaza Quarters in Gombe, where he was arrested during a coordinated operation at about 11:00 p.m. on the same day.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect allegedly made admissions regarding his involvement in the incident, according to the police.

He is currently in custody as investigations continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the Gombe Government House murder and ensure proper prosecution in line with the law.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to justice and to maintaining the safety of all personnel working within and around government facilities.

Authorities added that more updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
