Ondo Police Arrest Three After Violent Cattle Rustling Attack

In the Okeigbo area of Ondo State, police have arrested three suspects after a violent attack that left a rancher and his son injured and several livestock stolen. The incident has stirred local conversations about safety, surveillance, and what it really takes to keep rural communities protected.

According to the Ondo State Police Command, the arrests followed a report from a rancher named Abdullahi, who said armed men stormed his ranch in a coordinated, military-style raid. They allegedly rustled his cattle and attacked him and his son with machetes when they tried to intervene.

Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade said officers immediately launched an intelligence-led operation after receiving the complaint. With the help of advanced tracking tools, investigators were able to locate and arrest the suspects.

During the operation, police reportedly recovered:
• The stolen cattle
• A motorcycle belonging to the victim
• Weapons used during the assault
• The vehicle allegedly used by the attackers

State Police Commissioner Adebowale Lawal praised the swift response, noting that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property throughout the Yuletide season and beyond. He has directed all divisional officers and tactical units to maintain strict vigilance, especially in vulnerable communities.

Ayanlade added that residents play an important role in community safety. He encouraged the public to stay alert, support law enforcement efforts, and promptly report suspicious activities.
