Anthony Joshua’s Trainers Die in Ogun Road Crash

Two close friends and trainers of British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua have died in a fatal road accident in Ogun State.

The crash occurred on Monday, December 29, in Makun area of the state, involving a Lexus SUV reportedly associated with Joshua. The vehicle collided with a stationary truck along the road.

The tragic incident came shortly after the victims arrived in Nigeria to spend the Christmas holidays with the heavyweight boxing star. Videos circulating on social media showed the men at the Lagos airport days earlier, visibly excited about their visit and looking forward to the festive season.

One of the deceased, popularly known online as Healthy_Mindset and identified as Laz, was Anthony Joshua’s personal trainer. The second victim, identified as Sina Evovle, was reportedly his strength and conditioning coach. Both men were said to be key members of Joshua’s inner circle and had travelled specifically to Nigeria to join him for the holidays.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Government said preliminary investigations showed that two male foreign nationals died at the scene. The information was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State also confirmed the accident. According to the command’s spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi, initial findings indicate that excessive speeding and improper overtaking contributed to the crash. He explained that the driver allegedly overtook from the right before colliding with the stationary vehicle.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
