Kano Police Rescue Man After Alleged Blasphemy Incident
The Kano State Police Command has rescued a man from an angry mob following an alleged blasphemy incident at a hotel in the Badawa area of Kano metropolis.
The Kano alleged blasphemy incident reportedly occurred at the Sarina Hotel in Badawa Quarters on December 21 at about 9:45 p.m., according to security sources.
Sources disclosed that three men identified as Musa Tasiu, Awwal Ibrahim, and Soja Snu, all from Dorayi Quarters, had gone to the hotel to smoke shisha.
According to a distress call received by the police, Musa Tasiu allegedly entered the hotel’s mosque area during the visit.
Security sources claimed that he broke a glass door, picked up a copy of the Holy Qur’an, and damaged it.
Following the alleged act, people within and around the hotel premises reportedly gathered in large numbers, and the situation quickly became volatile.
“The suspect was on the verge of being lynched before police intervention,” one of the sources said.
Officers attached to a nearby police division were immediately deployed to the scene after the distress call.
The patrol team successfully extracted the suspect from the crowd and restored calm to the area, preventing further escalation.
Police sources confirmed that the Kano alleged blasphemy incident is still under investigation and that the situation has since been brought under control.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
