Army Airstrike Team Stops Planned Attack in Sokoto
Troops under Operation Fansan Yamma Strike have reportedly neutralized at least eleven armed terrorists during a deliberate operation near Kurawa Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to a statement released on the Nigerian Army Headquarters' official Facebook page, the strike team moved in after receiving precise intelligence about a planned attack on Tara Village, an area described as a major transit point for armed groups moving between communities.
The Army said the team set up a coordinated ambush and engaged the attackers in what it called an intense firefight. By the end of the operation, eleven suspects had been neutralized, while several others escaped with gunshot injuries.
Recovered items from the scene included:
• Eight AK-47 rifles
• Five magazines
• Twenty-six rounds of 7.62mm ammunition
• Other dangerous weapons found in their possession
