NSCDC Arrests Eight After Katsina Outpost Attack
The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested eight suspects in connection with an attack on its outpost in Koraman Nayalli, Katsina city.
The arrests were confirmed on Monday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Buhari Hamisu.
According to Hamisu, the NSCDC Katsina outpost attack occurred on Sunday following a protest by a group of miscreants angered by a recent security operation that led to the killing of Uzairu, popularly known as “Dan Kuda,” a suspected drug dealer.
He said the attackers forcefully invaded the NSCDC outpost located in the Koraman Nayalli area of Sabuwar Unguwa and set the facility ablaze.
“During the attack, three motorcycles and other items belonging to the outpost were burnt,” Hamisu stated.
The situation reportedly escalated further as the attackers attempted to advance toward nearby NSCDC and police installations at Filin Kanada, allegedly armed with dangerous weapons.
Hamisu said operatives of the NSCDC Special Response Squad, working in collaboration with the police, were able to contain the unrest and restore calm to the affected areas.
Following an on-the-spot assessment of the damage, the Katsina State Commandant of the NSCDC, Abbas Moriki, ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.
The PRO disclosed that the commandant has constituted a seven-member committee tasked with uncovering the circumstances surrounding the attack and identifying all those involved.
Investigations remain ongoing, with security agencies intensifying efforts to track down and arrest additional suspects connected to the NSCDC Katsina outpost attack.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives as investigations continue.
