FAAN Fixes Faulty Clocks at Lagos Airport After Pilot’s Viral Post
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has addressed concerns raised about faulty wall clocks at the international terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport following a viral social media post.
On Wednesday, February 17, Nigerian pilot Arinze Odira took to X to point out that several wall clocks at the airport were not functioning. According to him, five clocks meant to display the local times in Beijing, Lagos, the United Arab Emirates, New York, and London were all out of service.
He suggested that the issue reflected poorly on operational standards and attention to detail at the airport.
The post quickly gained traction online, drawing reactions from travelers and aviation observers. Shortly afterward, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria responded publicly, stating that the clocks had been fixed and were now working properly.
In a follow-up post on X, FAAN confirmed that its technical team had upgraded the wall clocks and restored them to full functionality.
It might sound minor at first glance. Just clocks, right? But airports trade heavily on precision and perception. When time displays are wrong or dead, it subtly chips away at confidence. Travelers notice these things. Pilots definitely do.
To be fair, the swift response suggests someone was paying attention. And sometimes, public accountability, even over small details, nudges systems to work a little better.
