Ogun Police Launch Investigation into Alleged Assault of TikToker Mirabel

The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of Nigerian TikToker known as Mirabel.

The content creator, identified by the handle @mirab351, had shared an emotional video online claiming she was assaulted on Sunday, February 15. The video quickly gained traction, sparking widespread outrage and fueling conversations across social media, with many rallying around the hashtag #StopRapingWomen.

Following the public outcry, the Lagos State Domestic Violence Agency confirmed that the case had been transferred to Ogun State authorities for proper investigation, as the incident reportedly occurred within Ogun jurisdiction.

Confirming developments on Wednesday, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the Commissioner of Police directed the Divisional Police Officer of Ibafo Division to immediately establish contact with the victim upon receiving the report.

According to him, the survivor initially reported the matter at the Ibafo Police Station, where preliminary details were obtained. However, initial findings indicated that the alleged assault took place in Ogijo, prompting a transfer of the case to the appropriate jurisdiction.

He stated that the victim was promptly taken to a hospital for urgent medical attention and assessment.

“Following preliminary treatment, she was subsequently conveyed to the Ogijo Police Station, being the jurisdiction where the incident occurred, for proper documentation and continuation of investigative procedures,” Babaseyi said.

He added that, given her vulnerable condition, she was referred for comprehensive medical care to support both her recovery and the ongoing investigation.

The Command assured the public that the victim’s safety and welfare remain a priority and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that anyone found culpable will be brought to justice.
