FMC Abuja Clarifies Circumstances Surrounding Death of Singer Ifunanya Nwagene

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, has clarified reports surrounding the death of singer Ifunanya Nwagene, popularly known as Nanyah, stating that medical personnel made concerted efforts to save her life after she was admitted following a snake bite.

According to the hospital, Nwagene arrived at the facility alive and was promptly attended to by medical professionals. However, complications arising from the snake bite reportedly led to a deterioration of her condition.

FMC Abuja also denied claims that her death was caused by a shortage of anti-venom, stressing that her treatment was not hindered by the unavailability of medical supplies.

Nwagene reportedly died on Saturday at the medical centre in the Federal Capital Territory after developing complications linked to the snake bite.

Her death was confirmed on Sunday by the Amemuso Choir, where she served as a soprano. In a brief statement signed by the choir’s Music Director, Sam Ezugwu, the group announced her passing.

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved soprano, Ifunanya Nwagene, also known as Nanyah. She passed away following complications from a snake bite,” the statement read.

Colleagues described the late singer as a rising talent whose death has left a significant void. She was known within choral and gospel music circles for her vocal strength, commitment, and passion for music.

Since news of her passing emerged, fans and members of the music community have continued to pay tribute, with many expressing shock over the sudden nature of the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, further details surrounding the circumstances of the snake bite had not been officially disclosed.
