Police Kill Suspected Bandit, Recover 586 Rounds of Ammunition in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that one suspected armed bandit was killed after officers intercepted an unregistered motorcycle carrying two suspects in Bagudo Local Government Area.

In a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi, the command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, said the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on February 4, 2026, when operatives from the Police Special Tactical Squad were conducting a routine patrol.

According to Usman, the suspects opened fire during a security check, triggering a gun battle.

“One of the suspects was neutralised during the exchange, while the second suspect fled the scene with gunshot injuries,” he said, noting that efforts are ongoing to track down the escapee.

Items recovered at the scene included 586 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, three AK-47 magazines, camouflage clothing, a military-style bag, two mobile phones, N404,500 in cash, and the unregistered Boxer motorcycle used by the suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Mohammed Hadeija, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He also urged residents to provide timely and reliable information to support ongoing security operations.
