LASTMA Officer, Two Motorcyclists Killed in Badagry Truck Crash
A traffic official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and two commercial motorcyclists were killed on Monday morning after a cement-laden truck reportedly lost control near Badagry Roundabout in Lagos.
The crash occurred around 9:00 a.m. on February 23, 2026, at the busy intersection.
Eyewitnesses said the truck was approaching the roundabout at speed when it suddenly veered out of its lane and rammed into the victims. The LASTMA officer was said to be directing traffic at the time, while the two motorcyclists were reportedly waiting to pick up passengers.
The impact caused immediate fatalities and triggered heavy congestion in the area.
Security and emergency responders, including personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, were deployed to manage the aftermath and restore order.
Authorities confirmed that the truck driver was arrested at the scene. The vehicle has been impounded for inspection, while the remains of the victims were deposited at a hospital mortuary.
Yusuf Sanni, Unit Commander of the FRSC, attributed the crash to loss of control and advised motorists to avoid the area while clearance operations were ongoing.
CSP Folajimi Agosile, Divisional Police Officer of the Badagry Police Station, stated that the driver would be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations.
