Police Arrest Alleged Thuggery Coordinator in Kano

Sometimes you read a police report and one detail quietly stands out. Not the arrest. Not the crime. But the moment someone chose to help when it mattered.

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 26-year-old Auwalu Ali, popularly known as Auwalu Dan Daba, in the Dorayi Quarters of Kano.

In a statement released Monday, Police Public Relations Officer CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the suspect was apprehended on January 31, 2026, by officers attached to the Dorayi Division.

Police say the arrest followed credible intelligence linking Auwalu to the planning and coordination of thuggery groups accused of attacking and robbing residents.

According to the statement, the suspect has a history of organizing violent gangs to target innocent citizens.

Authorities also referenced a related incident in Sharada Quarters, where officers responded to a distress call involving an attack by suspected armed robbers. A female victim sustained serious injuries during the assault, while one of the suspects was lynched by an angry mob before police arrived.

The injured woman was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital. In what the command described as an act of selflessness, a police officer reportedly donated blood to help save her life.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the officers for their dedication and thanked residents for their continued cooperation with law enforcement. He highlighted the blood donation as a reminder that policing is not only about enforcement, but also humanity.

The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station using the emergency contact lines.

And maybe that is the quiet thread running through stories like this. Crime thrives in silence, but so does courage. The difference often lies in who decides to act.
