NSCDC Detains Ten Over Alleged Kidnapping, Vandalism, Theft in FCT

Ten suspects have been detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on allegations ranging from kidnapping and theft to vandalism of critical national infrastructure across the Federal Capital Territory and neighboring states.

The arrests were disclosed in a statement signed by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, ACC Afolabi Babawale.

According to the statement, the operation followed directives from the Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to intensify efforts against criminal activities and economic sabotage threatening national assets.

Babawale explained that the suspects were apprehended by the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad in collaboration with the CG’s Crack Squad, acting on credible intelligence and renewed operational strategies.

Items reportedly recovered from the suspects include vandalized armored cables and dangerous weapons believed to have been used in their alleged operations.

“The suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations,” the Corps stated.

The NSCDC reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on economic sabotage, warning that individuals involved in the destruction of public infrastructure would be prosecuted.

Residents of the FCT and surrounding states were also assured of the agency’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national resources.
