Fire Service Recovers Body of 27-Year-Old Man From Well in Ibadan

The Oyo State Fire Service has recovered the body of a 27-year-old man from a well in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Chairman of the agency, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, disclosed the incident in a statement, noting that it occurred on Thursday night at 5 Binukonu Olota in the Laogun area of the city.

According to Akinwande, the victim had reportedly entered an abandoned well to clear debris when he inhaled ammonia gas, leading to his death.

He stated that firefighters responded promptly to the distress call, deployed the necessary rescue equipment, and retrieved the body from the well. The remains were subsequently handed over to officers from the Gbagi Police Divisional Headquarters in Ibadan.

The agency attributed the tragedy to toxic gas inhalation during the attempted cleanup.
