Adamawa Governor Assures Fairness After 93,700 Apply for 4,000 Civil Service Jobs

In response to widespread rumors about political favoritism in the recent civil service hiring process, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reiterated that all applicants will receive equitable treatment. The reassurance follows 93,700 applications for just 4,000 advertised positions, which fueled speculation over slot allocation.

The Adamawa State Civil Service Commission, which manages recruitment, firmly denied claims that seats were pre-allocated to political officeholders.

  • Permanent Secretary Abubakar Maiha issued a statement on Sunday:

No recruitment slots have been allocated to any individual or political office holder. These rumors are entirely false and misleading.”

  • The Commission emphasized that merit remains the sole criterion and pledged to maintain the exercise’s integrity.

The online application portal closed on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, after attracting:

  • 93,700 total applications

  • More than 20,000 submissions within the first four days

Public concerns arose over perceived unfairness, but the Commission assured that all qualified candidates will be assessed through a transparent, score-based system.

At a press briefing, Governor Fintiri underscored his administration’s dedication to good governance and equal opportunity:

Every qualified applicant will have a fair chance. Our recruitment is driven by competence, not connections.”

He called on citizens to await the official shortlist and discouraged reliance on unverified social media claims.
