Youth Unrest Looms if Tinubu Ignores Grassroots – Primate Ayodele Warns

Primate Elijah Ayodele, spiritual leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a stern warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to prioritize youth empowerment or risk facing massive youth-led unrest by 2026.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Oluwatosin Osho, Primate Ayodele revealed that Nigerian youths across the country are already mobilizing for a nationwide protest driven by economic frustration, electoral dissatisfaction, and lack of opportunity under Tinubu’s administration.

According to Ayodele, the government has neglected Nigerian youths, and if tangible action is not taken to create jobs and provide empowerment opportunities, the unrest could become unmanageable.

“The youths are planning a surge against Tinubu’s government. They want to protest against the economy, elections, and other frustrations,” said Primate Ayodele.
“Create empowerment and employment for the youth before May 2026. This isn’t about winning elections—it’s about stabilizing your government.”

The prophet stressed that youth inclusion is not optional but essential for national stability.

Ayodele criticized the common political strategy of empowering only urban or elite youths, calling it shortsighted and politically ineffective:

“Don’t focus on ‘Big Boys’ youth from Lekki, Ikoyi, or the Island. They don’t vote. Focus on youths from grassroots communities. They don’t have to be famous or internet celebrities.”

He warned that the failure to visit rural communities, listen to their concerns, and include them in federal policy-making would eventually backfire politically.

Youth Minister Holds the Key

Primate Ayodele praised the Minister of Youth for being capable and accessible, urging President Tinubu to leverage his talent and position to build bridges with young Nigerians.

“You have a very talented youth minister. Use him to engage youths from all walks of life—students, artisans, jobseekers—not just influencers.”

What’s at Stake?

  • Widespread protests could destabilize the administration

  • Youth dissatisfaction may escalate into organized resistance

  • A failure to engage the youth could damage public trust and electoral credibility

What Needs to Be Done

  1. Create sustainable job opportunities nationwide

  2. Empower top-performing students in tertiary institutions

  3. Invest in grassroots outreach through town halls and local programs

  4. Avoid youth exploitation for political thuggery

  5. Prioritize inclusive policy-making that reflects youth realities

As Nigeria grapples with economic and political challenges, youths remain a critical demographic—not just for elections, but for national development. Primate Ayodele’s warning is a call for urgency, strategy, and empathy.

Ignoring this warning could spark the kind of social movement the government is unprepared to contain.
