Nigeria Unveils New Tactical Armoured Vehicles to Boost Police Security Operations

In a significant step toward strengthening national security, the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs has unveiled seven modified light tactical armoured vehicles for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The vehicles, aimed at enhancing the police's ability to protect lives and property, were inspected on Monday by Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, the Minister of Police Affairs, during a formal event at the Federal Secretariat Phase III in Abuja.

Senator Gaidam, accompanied by Permanent Secretary Dr. Anuma Ogbonaya Nlia and other top officials of the ministry, emphasized that the vehicles were fully funded by the Ministry and are intended to bolster professional, front-line law enforcement operations across the country.

These tactical vehicles are to be used professionally to combat insecurity in the country,” Gaidam stated.

The deployment of these armoured vehicles comes as Nigeria continues to grapple with rising security threats, including banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency in various regions.

Officials believe the addition of these specialized vehicles will significantly boost the operational capability of the police force in high-risk areas, providing increased mobility, protection, and effectiveness in volatile environments.

The Minister's inspection signals a broader commitment by the current administration to modernize the nation’s police infrastructure and support proactive efforts in securing communities.

By investing in advanced security equipment, the government aims to reposition the police force as a more capable and better-equipped institution ready to face evolving threats.
