Sultan of Sokoto Calls for Advanced Security Technology to Tackle Nigeria’s Growing Insecurity
Sokoto, Nigeria – His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, has urged the Nigerian government to urgently equip security forces with modern technology and advanced resources to effectively tackle the nation’s worsening insecurity.
The respected monarch made this appeal during a courtesy visit by Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), at his palace on Thursday.
“No Nation Can Thrive Without Peace” – Sultan
Addressing the critical nature of the country’s security crisis, the Sultan, who is also a retired military officer, emphasized that peace is the foundation for development and prosperity:
“As a retired military officer, I feel it deep down in my heart the security situation in our country is critical,” he said.
“No society can develop in an atmosphere of insecurity. No matter how wealthy people are, they cannot enjoy their riches if there is no adequate peace in their environment.”
The Sultan called on the federal government to prioritize national security by allocating more funds and providing state-of-the-art technology to frontline agencies.
The monarch stressed that to overcome Nigeria’s evolving security challenges, authorities must adopt intelligence-led strategies, proper planning, and continuous training:
“We must use modern technology, intelligence, and proper planning to stay ahead of criminal elements threatening our nation,” he said.
He also urged security outfits to maintain vigilance, cooperation, and proactive engagement to ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
In his remarks, Dr. Ahmed Audi, NSCDC Commandant General, explained that the visit was part of a national tour to engage with officers, assess regional security needs, and improve the Corps’ operational effectiveness.
“It is our tradition to visit the palace and seek parental blessings from His Eminence the Sultan before proceeding with our duties,” Audi noted.
Dr. Audi expressed appreciation for the Sultan’s continued support and emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies to foster peace and resolve local conflicts.
