Troops Foil Bandit Attack in Taraba's Karim Lamido LGA
Troops from Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully repelled a bandit incursion in Jen village, located in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on his official X account (formerly Twitter) on Sunday evening, praising the swift response of Nigerian forces to an emergency call around 3:30 p.m. that day.
“On sighting the advancing troops, the suspected bandits fled the scene. The soldiers pursued and successfully crossed a nearby river to clear the bandits’ suspected avenue of approach on the opposite side,” Makama shared.
The rapid deployment and aggressive response by OPWS troops successfully averted the planned attack, preventing loss of life and property destruction in the village.
Following the thwarted raid, military forces have reportedly stepped up surveillance and patrols in the region to deter further attacks. Residents have described the current security situation in Jen village and surrounding areas as stable and calm.
Local officials and security stakeholders have lauded the military for their proactive measures and continue to urge vigilance and community cooperation in monitoring suspicious movements in rural parts of Taraba.
