President Tinubu to Visit Anambra May 8 for Project Commissioning
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to visit Anambra State on Thursday, May 8, marking his second official trip to the South-East in 2025.
The announcement was made by Fredrick Nwabufo, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement, in a statement released on Wednesday. The visit will feature the inauguration of several completed infrastructure projects spearheaded by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
“President Tinubu will visit Anambra State tomorrow, May 8,” Nwabufo confirmed.
“This will be his second visit to the South-East this year, following a trip to Enugu in January, which was his first official visit of the year.”
The projects to be inaugurated have not yet been publicly listed, but officials say they reflect a broader commitment to collaborative federalism and grassroots development across the country.
The presidential visit is expected to reinforce Tinubu’s pledge to govern with inclusivity, especially as his administration seeks to build stronger national cohesion amid regional tensions and security concerns.
The trip to Anambra follows a high-profile visit to Katsina State, where the President made bold declarations against banditry and terrorism, vowing to restore security and peace across Nigeria’s most troubled regions.
Officials describe the Anambra visit as more than ceremonial — it's part of a strategic effort to demonstrate federal presence and responsiveness in the South-East, a region often cited in discussions about marginalization and equitable development.
“His visit to Anambra would underscore initiatives to fortify national cohesion and reaffirm his presidential pledge to all Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
President Tinubu’s trip is expected to draw state officials, traditional leaders, civil society groups, and local residents, signaling what insiders say is a new chapter of federal engagement with the South-East.
