Benue Mothers Protest Alleged Killing of Children by Soldiers in Jato-Aka

Tension has gripped Jato-Aka, Turan District, Kwande LGA of Benue State, after grieving mothers took to the streets on Wednesday to protest the alleged killing of children by troops operating in the area.

Clad in black attire, the women marched through their community, chanting mournful songs and demanding justice for the victims.

The protesters accused the military of unleashing violence on defenseless civilians, especially children, and warned that the community could no longer tolerate such attacks.

According to them, repeated incidents of brutality have turned their villages into unsafe spaces, leaving families traumatized and fearful.

The mothers appealed to both the federal government and the Benue State government to:

  • Stop further killings of innocent residents.

  • Hold perpetrators accountable for alleged violence.

  • Restore peace to the troubled district.

They stressed that swift intervention was crucial to preventing more deaths and stabilizing the already tense region.
