According to police sources, the arrest took place on Friday, October 3, 2025, around 10:00 a.m. when detectives from the Lagos State Task Force were on routine patrol near Empire Junction along Jibowu inward Ikorodu Road.

Officers reportedly spotted four young men behaving suspiciously and attempted to question them. Three fled the scene, but one suspect, Toheeb Adeboye, was apprehended.

A search of Adeboye’s suitcase revealed a locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, an English Barreter pistol loaded with two 9mm rounds, and another locally fabricated handgun containing 10 live cartridges.

During interrogation, Adeboye confessed that the gang had just returned from a robbery operation in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and was headed to their usual base, the New Supreme Hotel in Akala, Mushin.

Acting swiftly on the confession, officers raided the hotel and seized several incriminating items, including charms, a laptop, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and hard drugs.

Another suspect, Ajayi Adeniyi, was arrested at the scene while in possession of a locally made firearm.

The police have since sealed off the hotel permanently to prevent further criminal use of the facility.

CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, praised the operatives for their professionalism and quick response.

He urged hotel owners to maintain proper guest records and monitor suspicious behavior within their premises to deter criminal hideouts.

Jimoh also called on residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly, assuring the public of the Command’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property across Lagos State.
