Ekiti Tightens Border Security After Bandit Attacks in Kwara, Kogi

The Ekiti State Police Command has intensified security operations across major entry and exit routes following a wave of bandit attacks in neighboring Kwara and Kogi States.

According to SP Sunday Abutu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the move is a preemptive step aimed at stopping criminal elements from infiltrating Ekiti, which shares borders with both affected states.

Abutu said a joint security operation has been launched involving the Nigeria PoliceAmotekun Corps, and other sister agencies to safeguard communities across the state.

“Operatives from the Police Mobile Force, tactical and intelligence units, sister security agencies, and local outfits have been stationed across key areas to prevent the infiltration of criminal elements,” he stated.

He added that the deployment covers border checkpoints, highways, and other strategic points throughout the state.

Abutu urged residents to stay calm, emphasizing that the heightened presence was preventive, not reactionary.

“The deployment is purely preventive. Citizens are urged to remain calm and continue their lawful activities,” he said.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and safety across all parts of Ekiti.
