Police Arrest Two Suspects Who Stole Air Force Officer’s Car in Abuja
Two suspected armed robbers accused of stealing an Air Force officer’s car in Abuja have been arrested by the Kano State Police Command.
The suspects reportedly stole a Ford Escape SUV during a gunpoint robbery at the officer’s residence in Karu, Abuja, in the early hours of October 29, 2025.
According to police reports, the assailants broke into the home around 3:15 a.m., stealing cash, mobile phones, and the vehicle before escaping the scene.
Investigators received intelligence that the stolen car was heading toward Kano. Acting swiftly, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad intercepted the vehicle near Salbas Filling Station on the Kano–Zaria Expressway.
A brief gunfire exchange reportedly took place when the suspects opened fire on officers. Police overpowered them and successfully recovered the stolen car.
The arrested suspects were identified as Umar Bello, from Nasarawa Dirkania, Kaduna State, and Adamu Adam Abubakar, from Zoo Road, Kano.
A third suspect, identified only as Dan Malam, managed to flee with a pistol and part of the stolen property.
“Both suspects were occupants of the recovered vehicle. Unfortunately, one Dan Malam (surname unknown) escaped with a pistol and some of the robbed valuables, and is currently being trailed,” police stated.
CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the Commissioner of Police in Kano, commended his officers and the Intelligence Unit of Force Headquarters, Abuja, for their prompt coordination.
He urged residents to continue sharing credible intelligence to help curb rising cases of armed robbery and vehicle theft in the state.
