Troops Destroy Bandit Camps in Taraba’s Takum and Ussa LGAs
Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have destroyed multiple bandit hideouts in Taraba State’s Takum and Ussa Local Government Areas.

The clearance mission, carried out under Operation Lafiya Nakowa, followed credible intelligence about renewed bandit activity in Tarhembe, Tornyi, TY Farm, and Kando in Takum, as well as parts of Ussa LGA where farmlands had been vandalized.
According to Lt. Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, the simultaneous operations began on October 5, 2025.
“Team A advanced into Tarhembe and Tornyi, where they made contact with the bandits. The troops’ superior firepower forced the criminals to flee into the forest. During exploitation, they recovered four rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one AK-47 magazine, and one motorcycle,” the statement read.
“Team B also conducted raids within Lissam in Ussa LGA, clearing several suspected bandit camps without resistance,” it added.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their professionalism and discipline during the operation.
He urged residents to continue supplying accurate and timely intelligence, noting that recent actions have disrupted bandit movement, curtailed criminal activity, and restored public confidence in the army’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
