Plateau State Denies Link to Fake Open Letter to President Tinubu

The Plateau State Government has disassociated itself from an open letter allegedly written by the Plateau United Front (PUF) and addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that the group is faceless and unrecognized.

Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang promises to Reinvigorate Plateau State University Bokkos – Nigeria Star News

The controversial letter, signed by one Sargwak Haruna who claimed to be PUF’s president, sparked political tension between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. Both parties traded accusations over which side authored the “disparaging” message to the president, who is expected to visit Plateau soon for the funeral of Prof. Yilwatda Nentawe, the APC National Chairman.

In a statement released by Dr. Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the administration dismissed the letter as:

  • “Ill-motivated and mischievous”

  • Unrepresentative of the views of the governor, the government, or peace-loving Plateau citizens

Bere stressed that the tone and content of the letter lacked the civility and respect with which Governor Mutfwang has consistently engaged President Tinubu and other national leaders.

According to Bere, Governor Mutfwang has repeatedly:

  • Acknowledged and appreciated President Tinubu’s interventions in tackling Plateau’s insecurity crisis

  • Thanked the president for appointing competent Plateau sons and daughters to national positions

  • Encouraged Plateau citizens serving at the federal level to place peace, unity, and service above partisanship

The Plateau Government urged Nigerians to disregard the “malicious fabrications” and called on security agencies to investigate and expose the faceless authors and their sponsors.

Bere reaffirmed that Governor Mutfwang and law-abiding citizens are ready to warmly welcome President Tinubu to the state whenever he chooses.
