Motorcyclist Killed in Apapa–Oshodi Road Crash Involving Truck and Honda Accord

A tragic accident claimed the life of an unidentified motorcyclist on Thursday morning along the Apapa–Oshodi Expressway in Ibafon, Lagos.

The fatal crash occurred around 11:30 a.m., causing a temporary halt to traffic as bystanders gathered in shock at the scene.

According to eyewitness accounts, the collision happened when a Honda Accord attempted to overtake a speeding truck, while the motorcyclist was allegedly riding against the flow of traffic.

A witness identified simply as Tunde shared how the incident unfolded:

“The truck brushed against the car, causing the driver to lose control. The car swerved off and hit the okada rider head-on. The impact was so severe that the motorcyclist died on the spot.”

After the collision, the truck driver reportedly fled the scene, abandoning both the vehicle and the deceased victim.

Police officers soon arrived to restore order and clear the road. The Honda driver was arrested for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

The victim’s body was later removed from the scene, and traffic gradually returned to normal.

Authorities are urging motorists to obey traffic laws and avoid reckless driving practices that endanger lives.
