Police Arrest Man with Locally Made Pistol on Gusau–Kaura Road

Imagine cruising down a highway and being stopped, not for speeding, but because a weapon is found hiding on your person. That’s exactly what happened on October 12, along the Gusau–Kaura Namoda route in Zamfara State, and the police say they have a man in custody.

Routine patrol, unexpected find

• Around 11:30 a.m., a patrol team led by DSP Oludele Oparinde intercepted a man riding a Boxer motorcycle.

• The patrol was part of standard security operations along the Gusau–Kaura Namoda road.

Arrest and seizure

• The rider, later identified as Yakubu Kasimu, was searched and found carrying a locally manufactured pistolhidden on his body.

• He was promptly arrested; the weapon was seized as evidence.
