Bandit Attack Hits Villages in Kebbi State
Residents of two rural communities in Kebbi State are reeling after a late-night attack by suspected armed bandits left several people injured, others abducted, and at least one fatality confirmed.
The Kebbi bandit attack occurred in Jindani and Mai Kaho villages, both located in Yauri Local Government Area.
Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the incident in a post shared on X on Friday.
According to the report, the attackers stormed the remote settlements under the cover of darkness, catching residents off guard. Several villagers sustained injuries during the raid, while others were taken away by the assailants.
One of the victims confirmed dead was an elderly woman.
Bakatsine wrote that residents described the victims as innocent civilians with no links to armed groups or criminal activity.
He further noted that the affected communities lie within a forest belt that has experienced repeated violence over the years. The area has been marked by ongoing insecurity, forced displacement, and growing fear among residents as attacks continue to spread across parts of Nigeria’s North-West region.
Local accounts indicate that the Kebbi bandit attack has once again disrupted daily life in the affected villages, with many residents now fearful of further assaults.
As of the time of reporting, there was no official statement detailing arrests or rescue efforts. Security observers continue to call for sustained operations to protect rural communities and curb the expansion of bandit activity in the region.
